Fan Art: A New Series! Collection of Fantasy Series

You could call these pieces “Fan Art”. I’m calling the series the “Fantasy Series”. Here are all the works from that series. The Fantasy Series is my latest, and it depicts scenes from TV shows and movies that I enjoy watching.

There is something very personal about our favorite TV shows and movies. We become invested not only in the story lines, but in the lives of these characters. We invite these people into our living rooms every night. We care about them. I wanted to dedicate pieces to these characters. I just started doing portraits in January, so this was a great way to include that practice into a series.

Something I really enjoy with a good show or movie is the cinematography. I believe there are no wasted scenes in a good show/movie. Therefore, a few of these pieces try to capture some of these beautiful scenes.

“Clandestine Trip” 10x16in Oil on Canvas Paper
Scene from Handmaids Tale

“Clandestine Trip” was taken from Handmaid’s Tale, Season 3 episode 11. This eerie scene really caught my attention. I’m obsessed with the feel of a world long forgotten with the abandoned gas station and power lines. Mix that in with the shiny and brand new Mercedes of the Waterford’s, it is such a power depiction of the once great nation now overruled.

Fan Art Star Wars Kylo Ren Rey
“Rey and Kylo Ren- Duel on Starkiller Base” 10.5x11in Oil on Canvas Paper
Star Wars: The Force Awakens

The Kylo Ren and Rey scene was one of my favorites. In the scene I love the look of the soft cold snow mixed with the sweaty hair, the red and the blue, and the surprising outcome of this duel. I took the reference from the end of the scene when they are facing each other, however I particularly loved the part where he has her pinned over the edge. So I tilted the photo reference to reflect that. It was a challenge to paint the faces on an angle.

There is a scene from Game of Thrones that shows the Weirwood beyond the wall. I loved the beautiful cold mountains in the background with the crisp red leaves in the foreground. This scene also conveys a long journey that finally reaches its destination.
