Epic Adventures- My Greatest from the National Park Series

Our US National Parks, what a true treasure we have! It was, coincidentally, Earth Day in 2017 and admission to all National Parks was free for the weekend. I asked my (now) husband Jimmy if he was interested in making the drive up from Las Vegas to Zion National Park. Since moving to Las Vegas in 2015, I had heard nothing but great things about Zion, but could never find someone to go with me. However, he agreed to go!

We arrived at the Visitor Center and asked for advice on what to do and see. Afterward, we decided to do one of the more strenuous and popular hikes: Angel’s Landing. Here is where our love for hiking in the National Parks was born. After an amazing day, we realized Bryce Canyon was not too far away…and it was free for the weekend. Could we really do TWO National Parks in one weekend? We decided to go for it! We decided henceforth, to visit as many National Parks as possible.

At the time of typing this blog post, my husband and I have visited 40 National Parks and many other US National Park Service lands. We even went to three National Parks for our honeymoon, including the US Virgin Islands NP. I wanted to capture the feeling of these iconic and sometimes hidden places, so I came up with my National Park Series. An ongoing art project dedicated to our beloved US National Parks.

Since I was about three months old, and still every single year of my life since, I have gone to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Before my love of all of the parks began, this was and still is my favorite place in the entire world. It is my soulmate and my solace. My plan this summer 2023, is to do a Great Smoky Mountain Series. Meanwhile, please enjoy my National Park pieces.
