Here are all the current works from my “Lowcountry Series“. Here you will see many pieces that depicts scenes of the salt marsh. I grew up on Folly Beach, SC, as did my mother and grandfather. My great grandfather had a house there in the 1920’s. My parents bought their house on Folly in 1983. Back then, to tell someone you were going to move to Folly Beach was met with disgust “ugh why would you want to live on Folly?!”. Now one will spend hours sitting in traffic to reach the beach on a weekend from March until September, if they don’t arrive before 11am!
In 1995 we moved across the street to a lot on the marsh/river side of Folly Beach. Here we have a stunning view of the Folly River. My parents built a house there and still live there today. There a few things more calming to me than pouring a glass of wine, pulling up a rocking chair on the back deck, and looking out into the marsh for hours. On a full or new moon we will have what is called a “Spring Tide” where the water is very high in the river and our little creek. These days, especially at sunset, are perfect for swimming! I have been known to say I enjoy the marsh side more than the beach side of Folly. The sunrise can be seen from the beach and will leave you feeling inspired for the day. But a sunset, only seen from the river side, will leave you speechless.
There is something so majestic about giant puffy multicolored clouds over the water. You will find this represented in most of my “Lowcountry Series” works. Please enjoy!
